Acne is a common problem for many
people from adolescents to adults. It also affects both
men and women. Although most people will out grow their
Acne by their early 20’s for some it can come and go
their entire life.
When oil and dead skin cells clog the skins pores it
causes the skin condition we know as Acne. This occurs
when our glands produce more ail- which is also known as
sebum.
When the sebum combines with dead cells it clogs the
pore and bacteria will grow underneath the surface of
the akin. As the combination of bacteria, sebum and dead
cells affect the tissues around the pore it causes
redness, inflammation, and pus.
Whiteheads and blackheads are more commonly known as
mild acne. The more severe acne is called cystic
lesions. These lesions can be very painful and cause
infection and scarring. These are large pimples deep
under the skin. There are different factors that
contribute to the occurrence of acne such as hormones,
extra sebum, bacteria, and inflammation when pimples
become swollen, red and painful.
Just as acne levels vary from each individual, so does
the treatment. Acne is treatable and it is important to
fine the best form of treatment for your individual
needs depending on the severity of your condition.
